After winning the 2012 NBA Finals, the Miami Heat rolled into the 2012-13 season as the team to beat in the NBA. They didn’t disappoint, putting together a remarkable 27-game winning streak and eventually securing another championship.

However, former New York Knicks big man Tyson Chandler hints that the season could have played out differently and ultimately ended more favorably for his team. The Knicks earned the No.2 seed that year, but their playoff hopes were cut short when the Indiana Pacers ousted them in the second round.

Chandler believes they became complacent due to their early success and also cites a lack of extra rest days during the Indiana series. Still, he’s sure that if they had gotten past the Pacers, they could have defeated the Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals.

“I really honestly feel like had we got past that (Indiana Pacers), I feel like we probably, we have a legitimate shot to win the chip that year,” Chandler said. “Miami was trying to go for the back-to-back. And I really feel like we would have beat them that year with that Knicks team. No offense to them, but I feel like we had the unit for it.”
