Shaquille O’Neal On Draymond Green Headlocking Rudy Gobert: “I Would’ve Done The Same Thing”

Draymond Green was the talk of the town after a scuffle in the Minnesota Timberwolves-Golden State Warriors game featured him putting Rudy Gobert in a headlock. In the aftermath, Green was ejected from the game and subsequently received a five-game suspension from the NBA.

Known for his aggressiveness and emotional demeanor, Green has a reputation for controversial and dirty plays. His antics often draw criticism from fans, and the recent altercation with Gobert, who was trying to bridge the situation, was no exception.

Not many are aligning with Green in this situation, except for NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal, who offers a different perspective. When speaking about Green putting Gobert in a headlock, O’Neal mentioned that he would have reacted similarly in Green’s shoes.

Per Los Angeles Times:

“I’m from the old school, so you always stick up for your guys. Like, me and you are doing the interview right now — somebody come put their hands on you, I’m gonna beat them up ‘cause you’re my guy. But you get these people who say it was wrong — like, I try not to be a hypocrite. I would’ve did the same thing. I’m not gonna sit here and say he was wrong, he shouldn’t have did it — he probably shouldn’t have did it, but WWSD, what would Shaq do? Shaq would’ve did the same thing.”
