After 5 Years, Gordon Hayward Didn’t Even Reply To Rudy Gobert’s Texts Before Signing With Celtics

During this past NBA summer, Gordon Hayward left the Utah Jazz to join the Boston Celtics.

Everyone was curious to see how Hayward would fit into the team. Then, the shock! You simply can’t imagine a worse debut than what Gordon Hayward had to live through in his first game as a Celtic. After only about five minutes, Hayward went down with a horrific ankle injury that will most likely keep him out for the rest of the season.

Now, Hayward’s former teammate Rudy Gobert, who currently is injured as well, said he disliked how Gordon Hayward left the Jazz for the Celtics, via Zach Lowe of ESPN:

“I could feel it,” Gobert says. “I was texting him a few days before [Hayward’s July 4th decision], and he wasn’t texting me back. That’s what I didn’t like. Just tell me. After five years, trust us, say what you are going to do. But I respect his choice.”

Hayward most likely didn’t want anyone to know of his plan to join Boston, because he was scared the information would get leaked before everything was final. On the other hand, I can also understand that Gobert’s feelings got hurt, considering how close their were during their time with the Jazz.
