Metta World Peace Describes How LeBron James Humiliated Him In Indiana: “This Is Your Best Defender, Right?”

Metta World Peace has the reputation for being one of the toughest defensive players in the NBA of this millennium. For every of the six teams he’s played for in his 16-year long NBA career, World Peace usually took the challenge of taking care of the opponent’s best offensive player.

One encounter Metta won’t ever forget was playing against the now four-time champion LeBron James. Coming out of high school and entering the NBA as a young teenager, LeBron was already a force to reckon with, and World Peace understood that magnitude of sharing the floor with a legend-in-the-making.

LeBron and World Peace shared many encounters together as opponents, with LeBron filling up the stat-sheet on a regular. But there was this one game that made World Peace furious of the former Cleveland superstar. The retired NBA defensive forward recalled that specific game during his appearance on ‘All The Smoke’ podcast.

“LeBron came into the league. The first game in Indiana, I was so pissed. The first game in Indiana, he gave me 25. He went to the fans and said ‘this is your best defender. Right?’ I hear this. I’m f****** furious.”

“I’m super f****** pissed. He was disrespecting me and I want to walk up to this m*********** but he bust my ass,” said Metta. “That was like wow! This is crazy!”
