Jaylen Brown Addresses Criticism Over Pairing With Jayson Tatum: “We Can Play Together”

Through this stage of the season, the Boston Celtics have been struggling to find consistency and keep themselves at the top of the rankings. At 19-21, the Celtics are the 11th seed in the Eastern Conference and currently out of the playoff picture.

The Celtics have certainly played below their expectations, and a number of fans and pundits are convinced that the true genesis of their season struggles has been the pairing of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.

The intensity of the issue surrounding the duo has increased over the course of the season, eventually fueling speculations whether the Celtics would have to choose between their two All-Stars in the immediate future.

Jaylen Brown, who has been a subject of several trade rumors this season, has caught the wind of the criticism regarding his pairing with Tatum. Following a win against the New York Knicks on Saturday, Brown responded and said that the two of them can play together.

Per ESPN:

“I think we can play together,” Brown said. “We have played together well for the majority of our career and things like that. The last year or so hasn’t gone as expected, but I think a lot of the adversity that we’re kind of going through now is going to help us grow and get better in the future.”
