Celtics ‘Fan’ Banned For 2 Years For Racial Slurs At DeMarcus Cousins

NBA players are being approached by hecklers quite often. DeMarcus Cousins and Russell Westbrook are among the few players who have never put up with everything, therefore regularly reacting to the hecklers. This leads to being heckled more often than others, which is ok. But when it comes to racial slurs, a line is crossed by fans that requires repercussions.

Thankfully, these repercussions were taken after the Russell Westbrook incident during the Thunder vs Jazz earlier this month, when the racist fan got banned for life, and these repercussions were now taken again for an incident in Boston.

This incident occurred during a game between the Golden State Warriors and the Boston Celtics at TD Garden on January 26. DeMarcus Cousins was the victim of racial slurs. According to Yahoo Sports’ Chris Haynes, Cousins informed a team security member about the situation, who informed the Celtics’ gameday operations. The heckler now got banned for 2 years, but when we’re honest, he should have been banned for life. We need to get rid of racism within NBA arenas (and in general).
