Paul Pierce Claims He’s “Drowning Financially” As $50,000 Monthly Support Payments Drain His Fortune

Paul Pierce earned nearly $200 million during his illustrious NBA career, but the Boston Celtics legend now claims he is struggling to keep up with his financial obligations after losing a lucrative income stream from Fox Sports.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ Sports, the 10-time NBA All-Star says he is financially overwhelmed, with nearly $50,000 in monthly child and spousal support payments continuing to drain his resources.

Pierce, who won the NBA championship and Finals MVP award with Boston in 2008, reportedly received approximately $119,000 per month from Fox Sports before his final payment arrived in August 2026. Although his broadcasting arrangement had previously ended, the network had continued making payments under his contract.

With that income now gone, Pierce claims his financial situation has deteriorated dramatically.

According to the filing, the 49-year-old currently pays approximately $28,000 in child support and another $20,000 in spousal support every month. On top of those obligations, he reports roughly $48,000 in additional monthly expenses, including $8,000 for childcare, $5,000 for groceries, $7,000 for dining out and $3,500 for entertainment.

That brings his reported combined monthly financial obligations to approximately $96,000.

Pierce claims he currently has around $300,000 in bank accounts and approximately $3 million in property, while earning just $23,000 from business interests last month.

His attorney described the former NBA superstar as “drowning financially,” arguing that the loss of his Fox Sports income has made it increasingly difficult to meet his existing obligations.

The latest developments come amid an ongoing legal dispute with his former partner, Princess Santiago, who is requesting an additional $40,000 in attorney fees and $10,000 to hire a forensic accountant.

Santiago has questioned whether Pierce has fully disclosed his financial situation and wants an independent examination of his finances. Pierce, meanwhile, is asking the court to reject the additional expenses, arguing that he can no longer afford them.

The former Celtics star was previously ordered to pay $8,508 in temporary monthly child support for their son, King, along with $100,000 in legal fees.

Despite his claims of financial hardship, Pierce’s reported assets demonstrate that the situation is more complicated than simply having run out of money. His argument centers primarily on the substantial difference between his current income and the financial commitments established during his more lucrative years.
