Shai Gilgeous-Alexander just wrapped up a season for the ages. He won the scoring title, the MVP, the Finals MVP, and led the OKC Thunder to the league’s best record and the NBA championship.
And the thing is, SGA isn’t slowing down anytime soon. He’s just 26 and still has a lot of prime years ahead. OKC also looks built to last, with Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren there to keep the foundation strong. On top of that, there’s a stockpile of future draft picks still lined up.
When you look at where SGA is headed, there are fewer reasons to doubt his place as a leading figure in this new era. Paul George, the same player OKC traded for to acquire SGA, summed it up by saying the 26-year-old superstar will carry this new era the way LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and Kevin Durant did theirs.
Per HoopsHype:
“He’s putting himself in a category of his own of, you know, we hear the debate of who’s the face of the NBA and who’s the young face of the NBA. And, you know, I think Shay kind of, you know, is taken that to heart. He’s tough, man. I think he’s the future for sure, he’s going to be in that conversation of, when you look at the KDs the Stephs the Brons, they held the 2000s, 2010s, 2020s, they held those eras down. I think Shai is going to hold this next era down.”
