Recent reports from Sam Amick and Anthony Slater at The Athletic reveal that De’Aaron Fox, along with his agent Rich Paul, had a significant meeting with Sacramento Kings GM Monte McNair and Assistant GM Wes Wilcox just before their crucial game against the Los Angeles Lakers. This meeting is seen as a pivotal moment in determining Fox’s future with the Kings.

The meeting took place on Thursday morning, just hours before the Kings faced the Lakers. Fox, who has been vocal about his desire to see the Kings become a consistent contender, declined a three-year, $165 million contract extension offer before the start of the 2024-25 NBA season. He wants to assess the team’s progress and potential for winning at a high level before committing long-term.

Fox has expressed his love for Sacramento and his desire to win with the Kings.

“It has all to do with the team, the organization. Where are we going? I want to make sure that we’re in a position to try and win in the future because that’s ultimately what I want to do,” Fox said on “The Draymond Green Show.”

He emphasized that he wants to see the team improve year after year and compete at a high level.

The Kings, currently sitting at 13-16 and 12th in the Western Conference, have struggled to meet Fox’s expectations. McNair and Wilcox’s meeting with Paul was an attempt to address Fox’s concerns and discuss the team’s direction. While Fox hasn’t requested a trade, rival executives are closely monitoring the situation, with teams like the San Antonio Spurs positioning themselves to potentially pursue Fox if he becomes available.
