Even though LeBron James and Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green have had their fair share of battles and can be considered rivals, they’ve always had a great amount of respect for one-another.
Earlier this year for example, Green made sure to give James the kind of credit he deserves.
Appearing on his own podcast, Draymond heaped high praise on LeBron and said that there’s never been a face of the NBA than the 38-year old Lakers superstar.
Green now revealed that he really wanted to be present for when LeBron James broke the NBA’s all-time scoring record earlier this year. His coach Steve Kerr however felt it would send the wrong message for him to fly to Los Angeles the day before a game against Golden State.
“Yeah, I was definitely going. It was a TNT game. I was doing the broadcast and Steve said, ‘I don’t think that’ll be great for our team. While we’re flying out on the road, you’re flying to LA, guys see that, guys see you on the TV calling the game. This is a big game for us against Portland.’ I said, ‘All right, respect. No problem. I’ll be there with my team.’
I flew to Portland, we got to get a win and we’re here. So, it definitely was something that I wanted to be present for. It was just such a big moment in life and friendship. But there will be other big moments and we’ll create great memories.”
Draymond Green asked the Warriors for permission to miss some of their road trip to watch LeBron James become the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, per @MarcJSpears

NBA Twitter had some pretty hilarious reactions upon hearing Green wanting to leave a Warriors road trip to watch LeBron play a basketball game:
“Dear Lebron. My stoopid coach wont let me come see you. I had a Starter hat ready for you to sign an everything. Please think of me during your big night. Lots of love. – Draymond” https://t.co/61kbjLCOhs pic.twitter.com/pOHHyc8duX

Draymond literally mocked the fans for believing that he was being serious about this last season, so which is it? Was he joking or is this for real? https://t.co/QK2NlSA6gN
