The Lakers Are Planning To Ask UCLA About Dealing with LaVar Ball, According To Coach Walton

The Los Angeles Lakers got lucky in the Draft Lottery, not only because they were able to keep their top 3 protected draft pick, but also to be awarded with the 2nd overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft.

It is no big secret that the Los Angeles Lakers are planning to pick the hometown hero Lonzo Ball. It would almost be a certainty for them to pick him, if there wasn’t a huge liability – Lonzo’s father LaVar.

We’ve heard about how LaVar verbally attacked his son’s high school coach, somehow thinking that this was his team, and he is the head coach. On the ‘Dan Patrick Show’, Luke Walton was asked about the Ball family, and if he’s going to call UCLA coach Steve Alford to talk about LaVar’s involvement and said:

“I wouldn’t personally, but yes, somebody in our organization will, absolutely.”

Walton added that they’re not concerned about LaVar at the moment.

“Right now I’m not concerned at all; I’m mostly concerned with what player can help us win more than 26 games the most.”

Lakers president of basketball operations, Magic Johnson, was also recently asked about LaVar Ball and said:

“I think what you’re drafting is the son and not the father. I think that you also are gauging and evaluating his son on his ability and what he can do not only on the basketball court but also what he can do for your team. How he can enhance and make your team better.”
