The Rajon Rondo Trade Majorly Affects Clippers Guard Tre Mann, But Not For The Obvious Reasons

On Thursday, there were a total of 16 trades made amongst teams and GMs, as the trade deadline was approaching. Many contending teams made tons of moves, while some stood pat. When it comes to the Los Angeles Clippers, they decided to address the point guard position, and went after one of the most playoff experienced ones on the market, Rajon Rondo. He was traded from the Atlanta Hawks to the Clippers for sixth man Lou Williams and two second round picks.

Even though this is a tremendous trade for both Rondo and the Clippers, it also gravely impacts the current backup point guard for the Clippers, Tre Mann. Although this trade may lead to the Clippers relying on and giving less minutes to Mann, that isn’t the reason he was affected by the trade.

Since the 7th grade, Tre Mann has been carrying Rajon Rondo’s rookie card in his wallet. The story is that ever since he was given that card, it was used as a good luck charm for Mann. The day he got the card, he made the ‘A’ Team. He kept on getting better and improving, and said “it’s cause of this card, I’m definitely going to the NBA”.

During yesterday’s post-game press conference, he joked and hoped that newly acquired teammate Rajon Rondo would autograph the card for him. It is, according to him, the drive and motivation that allowed him to get better year in and year out, and make the NBA.

Now, the two will play together, and hopefully Rondo can take him under his wing and mentor him. It all comes full circle!
