Stephen A. Smith Claims DeMarcus Cousins Would Rank As A Top-5 Big Man in Today’s NBA

DeMarcus Cousins has spent over ten years in the NBA, earning four All-Star honors and being viewed as arguably the best center in the NBA during his prime years. However, his journey was marred by significant injuries that affected his subsequent seasons.

Now at 33, Cousins finds himself without an NBA team. His most recent stint was with the Denver Nuggets in the 2021-22 season where he averaged 8.9 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game on 45.6% shooting from the field in 31 games.

Even though he’s not on an NBA roster, Cousins remains positive about his talent, and he recently indicated that he still belongs in the league. Echoing this sentiment, renowned NBA analyst Stephen A. Smith believes that the former Sacramento Kings superstar could still be among the top five big men in the NBA today.

“DeMarcus Cousins, right now, would be a top-five big man in basketball. Period. With his skillset, his body, his strength, his basketball IQ, his shooting ability, everything: he would be a top-five player,”
