Shaquille O’Neal Is Still Salty About 05 & 06 MVPs: “Ain’t No Way Steve Nash Outplayed Me”

In his entire career, Shaquille O’Neal accumulated numerous awards that would cement his legacy as one of the best in history. O’Neal is a four-time champion, three-time Finals MVP, 15-time All-Star, one-time MVP and was named to an All-NBA team 14 times.

While this indeed looks like one heck of a career, O’Neal apparently doesn’t feel satisfied with how some things in his career played out – one in particular was losing the MVP race to Phoenix Suns legend Steve Nash.

Nash and D’Antoni’s system revolutionized the NBA, by running the pick and roll with a guard and a big, with shooters waiting on the wings. With this, there were so many options, as the guard can attack the defense, shoot off the dribble, feed the big man on the roll, or kick it out to the shooters. This led to the Suns leading the league in offense and threes attempted and made.

Sounds familiar? Well, this basically is what the NBA looks like today.

O’Neal however still appears to be salty about not winning at least one of the two MVPs Nash received in 2005 and 2006. During his appearance on ‘Stephen A’s World’ on ESPN, Shaq brought it up again:

“Ain’t no way Steve Nash outplayed me in those two years he won MVP. I don’t care what nobody says.”
