NBA Players React To Shocking Decision By Grand Jury In Case Of Breonna Taylor

Breonna Taylor has become one of the faces of the Black Lives Matter movement seeking social justice and an end to systematic racism in the United States, and the entire world.

Breonna Taylor was a 26-year-old emergency medical technician from Louisville, Kentucky with no criminal record.

Shortly after midnight on March 13, police forcefully entered Taylor’s home on a drug warrant. In response to Taylor’s boyfriend, Kenneth Walker, thinking their home was being broken into, firing at the doorway and wounding an officer, police fired more than 20 rounds into the apartment, striking Taylor more than eight times, killing her.

With the slogan ‘say her name’, many activists, celebrities and sports personality have been seeking justice for her murder ever since. It can be found on the back of NBA jerseys, and on shoes in the WNBA (the WNBA dedicated its entire season to Taylor) and NBA. NFL players were allowed to wear a helmet decal with her name during season openers.

Then, yesterday, a Kentucky grand jury indicted one police officer for shooting into neighboring apartments but did not move forward with charges against any of the officers for their role in the death of Taylor.

These awful news shocked many people, also across the NBA, which led to them speaking out after the decision was made public.
