Klay Thompson Shares Honest Thoughts Regarding His Eventual Comeback: “The Shot I’m Never Worried About”

The Golden State Warriors have been without Klay Thompson since Game 6 of the 2019 Finals when the All-Star shooting guard tore his ACL on a dunk attempt late in the third quarter.

Thompson has remained focused on rehabbing since being sidelined and has continued to express his support for the rest of the team despite not being able to contribute inside the basketball court.

But after a second devastating injury and two and a half years of inactivity, Thompson is nearing a return and will be available to join the Warriors for their 2022 NBA campaign. The Warriors have already teased his return last month, but it seemed like they’re preparing the 31-year old sharpshooter for a more ideal return date later this season.

As Thompson gets closer to an NBA return, he now shares his honest thoughts including his biggest concern about his impeding comeback to the hardwood.

“The shot feels great,” Thompson said. “It always feels great. The shot I’m never worried about. The hardest part when you come back from a long layoff is the timing, the rhythm of the game and the conditioning aspect.”

“Even when I do come back to play, whenever that is, it’s going to be on a minutes restriction and it’s going to build throughout the whole season and hopefully peak when it’s winning time. Which is all the time, but when it really, really matters.”
