Kevin Durant Reveals The Reason He Switched His Number From 35 To 7

In last year’s summer, Kevin Durant signed a four year contract, with the Brooklyn Nets worth $164 million, even though the Warriors offered Durant a supermax contract worth $221 million over five years.

The last time we saw Kevin Durant on NBA hardwood, was in Warriors colors though, when he hobbled off the field with a torn achilles during last year’s NBA Finals.

Thankfully, Durant has been ramping up the intensity in his current rehab progress and he looks impressive, and he’s definitely on schedule to healthily return next season.

When he will be on the court for the first time after his injury, he will not only wear new colors, but a new number. Durant has changed his jersey number from 35, to 7.

During his appearance on Text Message Show with Dorell Wright for The Players’ Tribune, Durant revealed he’s switching his numbers because all of his favorite players, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Michael Jordan and Carmelo Anthony, had two numbers as well.

“Wanted to try something new for this new phase of my career plus ALL my favorite superstars rocked 2 numbers….Kob, Mike, Bron”

“Oh yea I can’t forget about Melo.
