Jimmy Butler Claims Lakers’ Defensive Options Are Not Going To Work On Him: “No Matter How They Guard Me”

While the Miami Heat are still down 3-2 in the series, this year’s Finals have been quite the playground for Jimmy Butler. The Miami superstar is nearly averaging a triple-double with 29.0 points, 8.6 rebounds and 10.2 assists per game on 55.8% shooting from the field in five games against the Los Angeles Lakers with two top-tier star players.

Delivering yet another legendary playoff performance in Game 5, Butler revealed his mindset throughout the series of facing the Lakers’ perennial defense, consequently speaking about how to counter what the Lakers throw at him.

“Just stay aggressive. I don’t know what they’re gonna throw at me on a given night. Well, I think whatever you throw at me, it’s not gonna work ‘cause if I’m open, I’m gonna shoot it. If I’m not, I’m gonna pass it to Duncan [Robinson] or Tyler [Herro] or K-Nunn or Bam [Adebayo] or Jae [Crowder], and they’re gonna make the shot. So it’s only if we stay together and play Basketball our way, no matter how they guard me… [indiscernible].”
