Hassan Whiteside Fulfills Promise He Made As A Child –  Buying His Mom A House

Hassan Whiteside’s path to the NBA was very rocky, to say the least. At one point, no one would have thought it was possible for him to even become an NBA player.

To quickly sum up his unlikely path to becoming a star in this league, check this out:

From not getting a chance after being drafted, to getting cut from the D-League, to playing in Lebanon, to playing in China, to playing in Lebanon again, to rejoining the D-League, to being picked up by the Miami Heat, to becoming their best player, to signing a $98 million dollar contract.

This big contract, allowed Hassan Whiteside to fulfill a promise he made to his mother when he was a kid. That one day, he was going to buy her a house.

Earlier this week, Whiteside bought his mom a brand new 6-bedroom house in North Carolina.

Via the Sun Sentinel:

“When he was 6 or 7, he sat down and drew a box picture,” Debbie Whiteside said, “put a bunch of windows in it — ‘One day, I’m going to buy you this house with a bunch of windows.'”

Wednesday the dream house became reality. As a surprise, Whiteside presented his mother with the keys to a six-bedroom home in Mount Holly, N.C., just outside of Charlotte.

“When we walked up to the house,” Debbie Whiteside said, “He said, so no one else heard, ‘Turn around, look at the windows.’ That’s when I kind of lost it. I started crying. I started crying.”

What a great guy, this is amazing.
