Gregg Popovich Has Never Seen An Injury Like Kawhi Leonard’s Quad Injury Before

The San Antonio Spurs have had a decent start to the 2017/18 NBA season. After 18 games, the Spurs have a 11 and 7 record and currently sit in 4th place of the Western Conference.

So, everything as usual? Well, yes and no. Yes, because the Spurs are always expected to finish in the top 4, no because they managed to start this well without their star player, Kawhi Leonard.

When it comes to injury updates and timetables, the Spurs are one of the worst teams. They won’t make any prognoses and barley update the media. But now, San Antonio head coach Gregg Popovich said that Leonard will return ‘sooner than later’. The injury is also something Popovich has “never” encountered.

“Never, never,” Popovich told reporters Wednesday, via ESPN.com when asked whether he has seen such an injury affecting one of his players. “What’s really strange is that Tony has the same injury, but even worse.

“They had to go operate on his quad tendon and put it back together or whatever they did to it. So to have two guys, that’s pretty incredible. I had never seen it before those guys.”

Kawhi Leonard is currently engaged in on-court work and it looks like he really will be back sooner than later.
