Former Teammate Shares Story About 17-Year Old Shaquille O’Neal: “This Is Physically Impossible”

Most likely only NBA die hard fans are familiar with Geert Hamming. The Dutch pro was selected by the Orlando Magic with the 26th pick of the first round of the 1993 NBA Draft.

But during his 3-year NBA career with the Magic and Warriors, Hammink only appeard in 8 games and scored a total of 14 points.

Shaquille O’Neal and LSU fans though, should be more familiar with the 7-footer. Shaq not only was teammates with Hammink in Orlando, but also in Louisiana.

For LSU, Hammink was the successor of Shaq and averaged 15.3 points and 10.2 rebounds in his finals season, before heading to the NBA.

The center now was guest on 1-on-1 with Basketball Network and shared an incredible story about 17-year old O’Neal, that left him speechless, due to Shaq redefining the laws of physics.

“At one point, I was isolated against him at a pickup game in the summer, and somebody else shot, and I thought I had him solidly boxed out at the block. And somehow, he jumped straight up and stretched out, rebounded, and dunked it over me. I was like, ‘this is physically impossible.’”

“He was at such high intensity where somebody on his team – I was on the other team – would shoot an airball, the ball would bounce out of bounds, he would chase it down way out of bounds, bring it back inbounds, dunk on everybody, and said, ‘There’s no out of bounds here.’”
