Doc Rivers Claims Previous Clippers Players Didn’t Accept Paul George Last Year
The Los Angeles Clippers are coming off one of the most disappointing seasons. Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, who were supposed to be the key pieces to turn the franchise around, unfortunately plummeted in their final playoff game against the Denver Nuggets.
Their humiliating collapse ultimately became one of the most popular topics among different media platforms. Several Clippers players like Marcus Morris, Kawhi Leonard, Paul George and now-Lakers center Montrezl Harrell went public and had the chance to speak out about the problems that they faced last season.
One of the problems appeared to be Doc Rivers, and this somehow was supported by Paul George after he recently voiced out his issues with Rivers’ coaching. But in the perspective of the now-Sixers head coach, they didn’t win because the previous Clippers players didn’t accept ‘at least one of the new guys’…. and it wasn’t Kawhi.
“From last year’s team, it didn’t have that. You can visibly see it. We had a starting group and a second group. The guys that were there the year before honestly didn’t accept at least one of the new guys. I thought they accepted Kawhi. If you don’t accept everybody then you don’t win.”
Here’s the extended version of my conversation with new Sixers head coach and one of the most prominent voices in the NBA @DocRivers.
We discussed his breakup with the Clippers, PG’s comments, Ben’s shooting, Joel’s expectations and much more. https://t.co/D7WOxgShVr
