Ben Simmons Is Reportedly Broke, May Be Forced To Return To Sixers Over Cash Flow Issues

Ben Simmons hasn’t participated in a Sixers game since Game 7 of the second-round series against the Atlanta Hawks in the previous 2021 NBA playoffs. Through 19 games this season, the hopes of Simmons returning to the court still seems very unlikely.

After a hampered trade demand and failure to cooperate with the team during practices and meetings early in the season, Simmons has shifted his focus on working on his mental health and cited this as one of the reasons why he doesn’t intend to appear in a Sixers game just yet.

While the Sixers listened to Simmons and even offered him professional assistance to help him with his mental health issues, the 25-year old Sixers point guard believes the team is recently making an attempt to force him into playing.

But now, according to a recent report that, if true, is crazy, it appears Simmons may be headed back to the Sixers. Apparently Simmons is broke and has massive cash flow problems that could possibly force him to return.

Per 94WIP’s Howard Eskin.

I was told by somebody very reliable he may be tapped out, broke. Cash flow broke. Because he’s losing so much money, but he spent so much money. 17.5 million dollar home, remember he has to pay taxes too. 17.5 million dollar home.

He’s got two homes in the Philadelphia area, probably worth eight or nine million. He buys a new car every month, four or five hundred thousand. He just spends money like it’s nothing because he thinks it never ends. And the person that told me, it’s very reliable that he has got serious cash flow issues.”

“Remember this trip, he doesn’t get paid for any games, so that’s well over two million. He may have to come back. I don’t want him to come back, stay broke…I thought he was going to be out the whole year, now he may have to come back just to get some money.”
