The Atlanta Hawks are adding a very different kind of theme night to their 2026-27 schedule.
On January 7, 2027, when the Indiana Pacers visit State Farm Arena, Atlanta will host its first full “Single AF Night,” an event designed specifically around single fans looking to combine basketball with a social experience.
The idea is an expansion of something the Hawks already tested last season. Atlanta previously held a “Single AF Pregame Mixer,” and after what the organization described as a successful response, the concept is being elevated into a full game-night promotion.
According to the Hawks, the event will feature opportunities for single fans to meet and mingle while also taking in the game against Indiana. The organization has not yet released every specific activation planned for the night, but the emphasis will be on interaction, entertainment and creating a social environment that goes beyond the usual in-arena experience.
The night is part of Atlanta’s broader promotional calendar, which includes 15 signature theme events for the upcoming season. The Hawks are also introducing a new “90s Night,” while continuing established events such as MLK Forever Game, Black Excellence Night, HBCU Night, Ladies Night and several family-focused games.
For the franchise, the strategy is clear. NBA teams increasingly compete not only on the court, but also for attention in crowded entertainment markets. By building nights around specific communities and experiences, Atlanta is trying to make State Farm Arena a destination even for fans who may be drawn to the social component as much as the basketball itself.
The Hawks are effectively volunteering to play wingman for their fans, turning a January matchup with the Pacers into part basketball game, part singles mixer and part Atlanta nightlife event.
Whether anyone leaves with a phone number is out of the Hawks’ control. But for at least one night, the assists may not all come from the players on the floor.
