LeBron James Doesn’t Have An Answer For His Longevity: “Don’t Even Know How I’m Doing It”

Criticize him or hate him all you want, but there’s no denying what LeBron James is doing this season. At 41, he’s performing in territory the league has never really seen before.

Yes, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar made an All-Star team at 41 and even reached the NBA Finals, something LeBron has yet to do at that age. But the numbers tell a different story. LeBron is averaging 22.4 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 6.7 assists on 50.7% shooting from the field, production that simply wasn’t expected from a player this far into his career.

Then there’s the athleticism. The dunks. The highlights. If this were any other near-retiring player, we’d be saying he turned back the clock. For LeBron, it remains a nightly occurrence.

You might wonder how LeBron is still this good at this age. Funny enough, he wonders the same thing. He admitted as much during a conversation with Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton.

“I don’t know, man. I don’t even know how I’m doing it. I’m just trying to squeeze as much juice out of the lemon or orange or whatever is left, as much as I can. Continue playing the game that I love.”
