9 Years Ago Today, Klay Thompson Had His INSANE NBA Record 37-Point 3rd Quarter

Nine years ago today, on January 23, 2015, the Golden State Warriors superstar scored 52 points in a 126-101 win over the Sacramento Kings.

In this win however, Thompson set an NBA record for points in a quarter by scoring 37 in the third. It broke the record of 33 points previously held by George Gervin and Carmelo Anthony.

The first half of the game unfolded in a relatively ordinary fashion, but the basketball world was about to witness a historic eruption of scoring from an unexpected source.

As the third quarter began, Klay Thompson caught fire in a way that few players in NBA history ever have. In just under nine minutes of play, Thompson unleashed an offensive barrage that left the Kings stunned and the crowd in awe. Three-pointers rained down with astonishing accuracy, and Thompson’s ability to create space and find open shots left defenders grasping at thin air.
