Moe Wagner may be earning NBA money, but his preferred way of getting around New York is about as ordinary as it gets.
The Brooklyn Nets forward said he regularly rides the subway and has quickly become a fan of the city’s public transportation system.
“I take the subway all the time,” Wagner said. “I love the subway. It’s so convenient, cheap.”

For a 6-foot-11 NBA player, blending into a crowded train might not always be easy, but Wagner appears to have embraced one of the most recognizable parts of everyday life in New York.
The German big man joined Brooklyn during the offseason after spending the previous several seasons with the Orlando Magic. His move to the Nets gave him a new basketball home, but it also placed him in one of the most transit-heavy cities in the world, where the subway can often be faster and easier than navigating traffic by car – similarly to his home town, Berlin.
Wagner has already spent time living in Brooklyn and appears comfortable with the borough and the city around it. That makes his affection for the subway feel less like a novelty and more like a genuine part of how he is settling into his new environment.
Moe Wagner is officially a New Yorker now. And apparently, he has the MetroCard mentality to prove it.
