Quentin Grimes’ relationship with Lakers head coach JJ Redick apparently included one of the strangest offseason mix-ups imaginable.
During Lakers media day, Redick recalled inviting Grimes to stay at his guest house in Sag Harbor, New York, while the two planned to work out together. Redick said he gave Grimes a specific address, instructions on where to find the key and a detailed rundown of the house.
Grimes still ended up at the wrong place.
Redick said he returned from golf expecting to find Grimes at the guest house, only to discover that nobody was there. Grimes had already told him that he had arrived, which left Redick confused as he searched around the property and looked for the car.
Then he checked Instagram.
“I go on his Instagram and he’s posted a picture from another house in my neighborhood of the pool,” Redick recalled. “So I tell him, ‘Where the f**k are you, dude?’”
The answer was somehow even better than the question.
According to Redick, Grimes and his friend had gone into one of his neighbor’s homes and entered the guest house, apparently believing they had found the correct property. The house was unlocked, and Grimes later acknowledged that he had simply walked inside after knocking and receiving no answer.
Grimes’ own version made the story even more chaotic. He explained that he thought the house matched Redick’s description, entered when nobody answered and eventually realized something was wrong. He and his friend then apparently went to another house before the situation was finally sorted out.
Somewhere along the way, the pair also made use of a pool, which is how Redick realized from Grimes’ social media post that his new player was nowhere near the right guest house.
