Donovan Mitchell could have spent his first NBA million like a highlight reel.
A mansion, a garage full of cars, watches, jewelry, the classic rookie starter pack. Instead, when Mitchell broke down how he used his first $1 million as an NBA player, the list told a much better story.
Yes, there was some fun in there. Mitchell bought himself a Porsche Panamera GTS for around $90,000, because becoming an NBA player should come with at least one “I made it” purchase. But the rest of the money went exactly where you would expect from someone who has always carried himself with perspective.
He bought his mother an Audi for about $50,000. He helped pay his sister’s college tuition, which he said cost around $300,000. He bought his sister a Jeep Sahara for roughly $60,000. He helped his mother with a home for about $250,000. And he put another $250,000 into his foundation.
