With the Oklahoma City Thunder looking almost untouchable this season, sitting at 24 wins and just one loss, it’s easy to see why another title run feels realistic, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander could walk away with another Finals MVP.
When that happens, there will be uncomfortable conversations across the league about where SGA ranks among the all-time great point guards.
This season, SGA is putting up 32.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 6.5 assists on 56.2% shooting from the field. An eye-opening detail is that he has already sat out 14 fourth quarters. Even Stephen Curry sat only 19 during the 73-9 season.
Now if he and the Thunder walk away with another ring, former NBA point guard Jeff Teague thinks Shai jumps to the second-best point guard ever, ahead of either Magic Johnson or Steph.
“He could possibly be the second-best point guard of all time. If they win again, another championship, and he wins MVP and a Finals MVP, he already surpasses everybody to me. It’s always him, Magic, and Steph.”
Jeff Teague says if SGA were to win another ring, he’d be the second best point guard of all time 👀
