Lakers Fan Drops Lawsuit Against LeBron James Over “The Second Decision” Tease

Just 12 days after filing a small claims lawsuit against LeBron James, lifelong Lakers fan Andrew Garcia has officially withdrawn his case, ending one of the more bizarre off-court stories of the NBA preseason.

Garcia had accused the NBA superstar of “fraud, deception, and misrepresentation” following LeBron’s cryptic October 7 teaser dubbed “The Second Decision,” which many fans interpreted as a retirement announcement. Instead, the reveal turned out to be a promotional campaign for Hennessy, leaving some fans, Garcia included, feeling misled.

Garcia claimed he spent $865.66 on two premium tickets to the Lakers’ March 31, 2026 game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, believing it would be LeBron’s final matchup against his former team. When the announcement turned out to be an ad, Garcia said the tickets lost their emotional and resale value.

He filed suit in Los Angeles County Superior Court seeking reimbursement, arguing that LeBron’s teaser had created false expectations.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ Sports, Garcia dropped the lawsuit after accepting a goodwill gesture from PrizePicks, a daily fantasy sports platform. The company reportedly deposited $865.66 in promotional funds into Garcia’s account, the exact amount he spent on the tickets. That’s smart marketing.
