After undergoing surgery to repair a torn Achilles tendon suffered in Game 7 of the NBA Finals, Tyrese Haliburton broke his silence with a powerful and deeply personal message that has resonated across the basketball world.
In a post shared on social media, the Indiana Pacers star opened up about the heartbreak of seeing his championship dreams cut short just minutes into the biggest game of his life. His words weren’t polished—they were raw, vulnerable, and brutally honest.
“Man. Don’t know how to explain it other than shock. Words cannot express the pain of this letdown. The frustration is unfathomable,” Haliburton wrote. “I’ve worked my whole life to get to this moment and this is how it ends? Makes no sense.”
Haliburton didn’t sugarcoat the physical or emotional toll of the injury. He described his foot as feeling like “dead weight” and admitted that what hurt most was his mind. But even in the midst of pain, he made it clear: he doesn’t regret playing.
“Honestly, right now, torn Achilles and all, I don’t regret it. I’d do it again, and again after that, to fight for this city and my brothers. For the chance to do something special”.
The 25-year-old guard also addressed Pacers fans directly, apologizing for the cruel twist of fate that ended their magical playoff run. But he promised to come back stronger, quoting Kobe Bryant and leaning on his faith to guide him through the recovery.
“I don’t ‘have to’ go through this, I get to go through this,” he wrote. “Watch how I come back from this”.

Haliburton’s postseason was amazing and included historic clutch plays. He averaged 17.3 points, 8.6 assists, and 5.3 rebounds over 23 playoff games, leading Indiana to its second-ever Finals appearance.
