The Indiana Pacers secured a crucial 116-107 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 3 of the NBA Finals, taking a 2-1 series lead. While Bennedict Mathurin’s 27-point explosion grabbed headlines, head coach Rick Carlisle made sure to highlight another key contributor—T.J. McConnell.

After the game, Carlisle credited McConnell’s relentless energy and competitive will.

“T.J. just brought a competitive will to the game,” Carlisle said.

McConnell finished the night with 10 points, 5 assists, and 5 steals, but his impact went beyond the box score. His defensive pressure disrupted OKC’s rhythm, forcing multiple turnovers that led to transition buckets for Indiana.

Throughout the playoffs, McConnell has been a spark plug, bringing intensity whenever he steps on the court. His ability to push the pace, create opportunities, and frustrate opposing guards has been invaluable for the Pacers.

Carlisle has consistently praised McConnell, Mathurin and the entire Pacers bench and doubled down after Game 3.

This is the kind of team we are. We need everybody.”

McConnell’s contributions were especially crucial in the fourth quarter, where Indiana outscored OKC 32-18 to seal the victory.

With the Pacers now leading the series, McConnell’s role will continue to be vital as Indiana looks to extend their advantage in Game 4. His ability to disrupt OKC’s backcourt and provide steady playmaking will be key as the Pacers aim to move one step closer to an NBA championship.
