Retired NBA Point Guard Raymond Felton Says He’d Take Jalen Brunson Over Luka Doncic

Jalen Brunson’s level of play hasn’t come with the same fireworks as guard peers like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Anthony Edwards, but it’s become impossible to ignore. He’s a star in every sense and continues to prove why he’s one of the most reliable players in the NBA.

Through the postseason, Brunson is averaging 29.1 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 7.6 assists on 42.0% shooting from the field, guiding a New York Knicks team that’s already dispatched the Detroit Pistons and now holds a 2-1 lead over the Boston Celtics. The Knicks’ defense has done its job, but Brunson’s ability to generate offense and hit big shots is just as big a reason they’re hard to put away.

Now, there’s a case to be made that fans and basketball pundits alike still aren’t giving Brunson enough credit. But retired NBA point guard Raymond Felton clearly sees things differently. He’d even take Brunson over Los Angeles Lakers superstar Luka Doncic, who’s as close to a consensus top-five player as it gets.

“I’m rolling with him (Jalen) before Luka. He’s showing it—I gotta give him his flowers,” Felton said. “He’s on the biggest stage in New York City, and he’s doing it. He’s winning. He’s hit big shots against high-level defenders. He’s hitting shots.”
