As the NBA trade deadline looms, the Phoenix Suns are reportedly exploring multiple avenues to change up their roster. With star forward Kevin Durant listed as doubtful for their upcoming game against the Oklahoma City Thunder due to a left ankle sprain, speculation is mounting about the Suns’ potential trade moves.

According to various reports, rival executives believe that if the Suns fail to secure Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler, they may turn their attention to Durant. Durant, who has been a cornerstone of the Suns’ lineup, is averaging 26.9 points per game this season. Per Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix:

Suns have listed Kevin Durant as doubtful for tomorrow nights game in OKC. As @SInow reported yesterday, there’s an increasing belief among rival execs that if Phoenix can’t land Jimmy Butler, the Suns will engage on a Durant deal. Phoenix working two fronts right now.

His potential availability has caught the attention of several teams, including the Golden State Warriors, who are keen on reuniting Durant with Stephen Curry.

The Suns are currently working on multiple trade scenarios involving several teams to land Butler. However, even with Butler’s preference for joining the Suns, Bradley Beal’s no-trade clause is complicating matters, so much, that the team may need to consider other options. Durant’s name has therefore emerged as a possible trading piece to change up the seemingly dysfunctional Suns roster.

As the trade deadline approaches, many eyes will be on the Suns and their decision-making process. Whether they manage to secure Butler or pivot to a deal involving Durant, the coming days promise to be exciting.
