The Indiana Fever have announced plans to break ground this summer on a state-of-the-art, $78 million practice facility, set to open before the 2027 WNBA season. The new facility, named the Indiana Fever Sports Performance Center, will be located on the site of the old Marion County Jail, just northeast of Gainbridge Fieldhouse in downtown Indianapolis.

The three-story, 108,000-square-foot complex will feature a range of amenities designed to support the needs of the players. These include two regulation-sized basketball courts, a full-service kitchen, a yoga and Pilates area, and a spa-like retreat with massage, infrared light therapy, sauna, steam rooms, float tanks, and multiple hydrotherapy pools. Additionally, the facility will offer a hair and nail salon, childcare space, and a podcast and content production studio.

Pacers Sports & Entertainment CEO Mel Raines emphasized the importance of this investment in women’s sports, stating,

“This is an opportunity to showcase our investment in women and women’s sports. We’ve outgrown our current space; we know the footprint of the league is going to grow and we want to stay relevant and ahead of the curve.”

The Fever’s president of basketball and business operations, Kelly Krauskopf, added,

“For us, this represents another level of commitment and ensuring that our players have the highest level of resources to compete. It’s a game changer in terms of providing the ultimate player experience and we can’t wait for our team to reap the benefits of having an exclusive and unparalleled facility designed specifically for them.”

The new facility will be connected to the Virginia Avenue Parking Garage by a skybridge, making it easily accessible for players and fans. The project is being developed through an interlocal agreement between Pacers Sports & Entertainment, the city of Indianapolis, and the Capital Improvement Board of Marion County.

With the Fever’s recent success, including the drafting of star player Caitlin Clark, the new practice facility is expected to further elevate the team’s performance and attract top talent. The Fever’s commitment to providing top-tier resources for their players underscores their dedication to growing the game of basketball and supporting their athletes.

As construction is set to begin in August, fans and players alike are eagerly anticipating the opening of the Indiana Fever Sports Performance Center, which promises to be a world-class training complex for the WNBA team.
