In a recent episode of Angel Reese’s podcast, “Unapologetically Angel,” Chicago Bulls star Lonzo Ball gave his younger brother LiAngelo Ball some brutally honest advice about his NBA aspirations.

The conversation, which has since gone viral, highlighted the stark realities of pursuing a professional basketball career in the United States.

During the podcast, Lonzo didn’t mince words when he told LiAngelo that the NBA might not be a realistic future for him.

“I feel like the opportunity is not gonna be the same in the G League for him,” Lonzo said. “Just because of his process and how long it’s been. Just being realistic. I’m his big brother, I gotta tell him the truth. I think his path is overseas. He should have been overseas killing it.”

LiAngelo, who has been trying to secure a spot in the NBA for several years, responded by expressing his belief that if given a proper chance in the G League, he could prove himself worthy of an NBA spot.

“I feel like if I get to the G League, I’m going to carry myself. I only need a shot bro, if they give me the shot, I feel like I will do my thing.”

Lonzo pointed out that LiAngelo had already been given opportunities in the G League and Summer League but hadn’t managed to secure an NBA contract.

“This is the problem I have. I feel like you got your shot in the Summer League with the Hornets. Are you going to sit in the G League on the bench, or are you going to go overseas to somewhere nice and go get 30?” Lonzo asked.

Lonzo suggested that playing overseas could provide LiAngelo with a chance to shine and build a rewarding basketball career, even if it isn’t in the NBA.

While LiAngelo remains hopeful about his chances in the G League, Lonzo’s perspective offers a realistic look at the competitive nature of professional basketball in the United States.
