In a recent appearance on “Grind City Media,” former Memphis Grizzlies star Tony Allen didn’t hold back when it came to sharing his thoughts on his time with the New Orleans Pelicans.
Known for his candid nature, Allen took a playful jab at the Pelicans’ former head coach, Alvin Gentry, and the organization as a whole.
“Let me tell you, that man was one of the worst coaches in the world,” Allen exclaimed with a chuckle. “He was old, man. I mean, he’d forget his own speeches mid-game! He’d be like, ‘Fellas, now when we… uh, what were we doing wrong again?'”
While Allen’s remarks were clearly exaggerated and meant in jest, Allen did acknowledge the challenges that come with coaching in the NBA.
“It’s not an easy job, and I respect anyone who takes it on,” he added. “But man, those days with the Pelicans were something else!”
