Not even a masterful performance by LeBron James couldn’t stop the Denver Nuggets from reaching their first ever NBA Finals.
James’ 40 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists were nullified by Nikola Jokic and his 30-point triple double.
While Denver will play the winner of Miami-Boston in the Finals starting June 1, LeBron James stirred up all the speculations in his post-game press conference, where he revealed that he is uncertain if he’ll be with the team next season, as retirement is under consideration.
“I got a lot to think about. Just personally, with me moving forward with the game of basketball, I got a lot to think about.”

LeBron James to ESPN on his thought process going into the offseason:
Q: When you say you got to think about stuff, what thread should we be pulling on that?
A: “If I want to continue to play.”
Q: As in next year?
A: “Yeah.”
Q: You would walk away?
A: “I got to think about it.”— Dave McMenamin (@mcten) May 23, 2023
Until now, LeBron James has always stated that he has no plans of retiring before 2024. That’s when his son, LeBron James Jr., could play in the NBA. James has two years, $97 million remaining on his contract, with the final year being a player option.
