Allen Iverson Comes Out of Basketball Retirement; Will Compete in Three-On-Three Tournament
Ladies and gentleman, 2001 NBA MVP and one of the greatest pound-for-pound players of all-time, Allen Iverson, will be back on the basketball court this summer taking on a few familiar faces as well as breaking ankles.
According to The Vertical, Iverson has committed to the new “BIG 3” professional three-on-three basketball tournament that will launch in the summer of 2017 as a player/coach.
Rap legend Ice Cube and former NBA guard Roger Mason Jr. have partnered with a group of investors to launch a new three-on-three, half-court summer league for retired NBA players. Plans include eight teams of five players – including an ex-player as coach, as well as a team captain – that’ll tour together from city-to-city starting in late June.
Former NBA players who have committed so far:
Allen Iverson, Kenyon Martin, Stephen Jackson, Jermaine O’Neal, Rashard Lewis, Jason Williams, and Gary Payton.
