Barton, Murray Excited For NBA Global Games in London

 

Denver Nuggets guards Will Barton and Jamal Murray are excited for their visit to London to host the Indiana Pacers at The O2 in London on Jan. 12 as part of NBA Global Games London 2017. Barton, one of Denver’s most valuable pieces, spoke out on the positive impact of bringing NBA basketball across the globe to London and his excitement of competing in front of a European crowd.

 

“I’m excited. I’ve never been to London,” Barton said. “Anytime you get a chance to get out of the country, do what you love, it’s a blessing. I’m very happy to be a part of the trip. I can’t wait to see what London has to offer. See a couple of different sites, try different foods and things of that nature. Just kind of be a tourist,” he finished. Barton sees the future of bringing NBA basketball across the globe, “It is a good thing. The game is becoming so global. I think we owe it to different countries to let them see us play. We are getting more and more worldwide every year. So why not bring the game to a global level.”

 

No. 7 overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, Jamal Murray is a 19-year-old rookie who is having a fantastic rookie season with the Denver Nuggets. Murray—a guard with above average playmaking ability and lights out shooting when he’s feeling it—is currently ranked fifth in the Rookie of the Year race according to NBA.com. The rookie out of Kentucky is thrilled to play in front of a London crowd.

 

“We’re going there to play one game and also experience a few days [in London],” Murray said. “It’s going to be a fun experience, we’re all excited, we don’t know too much about the city of London or Britain but we’re looking forward to experiencing that.”

 

The 2017 NBA Global Games in London is great for the league. Fans across the globe will be able to witness players they’ve always read about on social media and have a chance to see them strolling around their city. The fans, as well as the players, are excited to kick off the Global Games on Thursday.
