Steve Kerr Is Glad He Didn’t Play In Today’s NBA: “That Wouldn’t Have Gone Well For Me”
Steve Kerr has had a picture perfect career so far. Not only has he won five championships as a role player, he’s also continued his success as a coach, winning three championships with the Golden State Warriors, looking to add a fourth one this year.
But had Kerr played in today’s NBA, things could have went a little different, and that’s according to the man himself.
During yesterday’s 2022 NBA Finals Media Day, Steve Kerr was asked about how teams have tried to create mismatches more and more, and if he noticed the game to evolve into hunting matchups, as opposed to finding a mismatch, in today’s NBA:
“Yeah, it feels like it wasn’t this way when I first started coaching eight years ago,” Kerr said. “I think maybe over the last five or six years, it’s gotten more and more popular as we’ve had more and more three-point shooting, more five-out lineups, because the floor is so open. And all the switching, it’s hard to attack switches. I think that’s the reason for the hunting over the last few years.
I’m glad they didn’t have it like 25 years ago. That wouldn’t have gone well for me.”
