Stephen Curry Defends Draymond Green Over Recent Criticism: “We Are Not In The Finals Without Him”

Draymond Green is facing a tidal wave of criticism in this NBA Finals against the Boston Celtics for his lackluster level of play. While he stepped up in Game 5, Draymond still hasn’t looked like his usual self for the majority of series.

Through five games, the 32-year old Warriors enforcer is averaging 5.0 points, 7.2 rebounds and 5.8 assists per game on mediocre 28.1% shooting from the field. He has underwhelmed that even his mother didn’t shy away from reacting negatively to his performance this series.

As people remain critical of Draymond, Warriors superstar Stephen Curry came to defense of the former Defensive Player of the Year and made sure to give him his credit for helping the team reach the NBA Finals this season.

“In a situation like this series where things are not as smooth and you have some rough patches, he finds a way to respond with the right energy and approach and toughness that, if you’re watching the game, you notice him at all times because he’s kind of everywhere,” Curry said. “We need that grit. We are not in the Finals without him playing at such a high level all year long, the first three series.”
