Rudy Gobert Confirms He Has No Beef With Draymond Green, But Says He’s Aware Of The Disrespect

Rudy Gobert is one of the top players in the NBA right now. He may not have a flashy skill set nor some eye-popping scoring numbers, but solely speaking in terms of playing defense while being a glass-eater, it’s safe to say that there are very few players that can match him.

On the year, Gobert is averaging 15.5 points, 14.8 rebounds (career-high), and 2.2 blocks per game on 71.2% shooting from the field (career-high). He’s making his presence felt, as he leads the league in rebounds per game and field goal percentage so far this season.

For an All-Star and DPOY-caliber player like he is, Gobert surely does get a ton of unwanted criticism and disrespect from a number of observers including the likes of NBA players themselves. One player who has openly ridiculed the Utah Jazz star is Draymond Green.

Green doesn’t shy away from expressing his mind and running his mouth. The Golden State Warriors defensive anchor once mocked Gobert for crying over his 2019 All-Star Game snub, and recently, he lashed out the comparison between him and 29-year old Jazz big man.

Though Green has repeatedly shown some negative reactions towards Gobert, the Jazz defensive big man has confirmed that he has no beef with the three-time Warriors All-Star. He also said that he’s aware of the criticism he’s been receiving from Draymond and others, but would rather take it as a sign of respect.

Per Bleacher Report:

“Our relationship is what he’s saying about me ‘coz I’m not talking about him,” Gobert told Taylor Rooks on an excluive interview for Bleacher Report. “When I see him in person he’s always real nice and respectful. As long as that stay the same, you know.”

“Things being said about me on podcasts, it’s not just Draymond, it’s a lot of guys that try to discredit what I do every night or who I am as a player. It’s part of it. For me, I will always take that as respect. If I was an average defensive player or an average player, they wouldn’t be talking about me, right? So I would always take that as respect.”

“I don’t have a beef with anyone,” he concluded.
