Richard Hamilton Claims Stephen Curry, Chris Paul and Kyrie Irving Wanted No Smoke With Derrick Rose

No other point guard caught everyone’s attention more than Derrick Rose in the early 2010s. Coming into the league as the number one pick of the 2008 NBA Draft, Rose had quickly risen into stardom and instantly became one of the best point guards in the league.

At a young age, Rose made three All-Star appearances, was selected to an All-NBA team, won the Rookie of the Year award and an MVP award, just before suffering a career-defining injury in the 2012 NBA Playoffs. He may fly under the radar today, but back in the day, it was quite a different story.

Richard ‘Rip’ Hamilton, who played for the Chicago Bulls for two years, gave an interesting perspective of just how good Rose was before suffering major injuries. In an episode of ‘All The Smoke’ podcast, Hamilton claimed that none of today’s NBA point guards wanted any smoke with Rose during his healthy career years.

“There’s a lot of great players in our game right now when you’re talking about the point guard position,” Hamilton said. “Russell Westbrook. You know, you talk about Steph, CP, Kyrie. Listen, none of them dudes wanted no smoke with Derrick Rose in the Derrick Rose era. I’m tellin’ you right now. None of them dudes wanted no smoke with D-Rose during that time.”
