Otto Porter Couldn’t Be On The Court For The Final Play, Because He Was Taking A Drug Test

This is a first.

During Wednesday’s game between the Philadelphia 76ers and the Chicago Bulls, Bulls head coach Jim Boyle wanted to play Otto Porter for the game’s final defensive position, but couldn’t. Why? Well, Porter was already being tested for drugs.

You see, the game ended in a bizarre way.  The final possession was played twice. After both teams thought the game was over, referees realized a game clock error had occurred and that there should have been 0.5 seconds left on the clock. They therefore replayed the final possession minutes later.

Now it gets even more curious. Since both teams already were in their respective locker rooms, still thinking the game was over, the referees had to go and get both teams back on the floor. The teams then came back, but Otto Porter was missing, because he was busy taking a drug test for the league.

Thankfully for Boylen and his team, the Bulls won the game nontheless, as Philly wasn’t able to convert on the final play.
