OG Anunoby Says It’s Weird To Wear A Different Jersey After Playing Against Raptors

The New York Knicks ended 2023 with a major move. Aiming to climb the ranks of the Eastern Conference, the Knicks traded for OG Anunoby, along with Precious Achiuwa and Malachi Flynn, in a deal that sent RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley and a 2024 second-round pick to the Toronto Raptors.

Numerous teams in the league have long coveted Anunoby as a trade asset, and justifiably so. He fits the needs of any team, contributes on offense, and, most importantly, can guard the league’s best offensive players. Now with the Knicks, Anunoby has done just that, and more, bringing these valuable skills to the lineup.

While Anunoby has shattered plusminus records throughout his first 11 games with the franchise, he’s quickly emerged as fan-favorite and coach- favorite, getting the Thibs treatment, often playing for 40+ minutes per game.

On Saturday, Anunoby played against his former team for the first time ever, as the Knicks hosted the Raptors.

The Knicks were able to blow-out the Raptors 126-100, with OG dropping 14 points and 7 rebounds. But while it was all smiles for the Knicks, Anunoby felt a bit weird. When asked about how playing against the Raptors felt, Anunoby revealed that it still feels odd to wear a different jersey.

“Still weird not being a Raptor… I loved it there.”
