Mike Miller’s Pet Monkey Once Unlocked The Door And Rode His Dogs Around The Neighborhood

Former NBA swingman Mike Miller had a pretty impressive NBA career for a non star player.

Miller won Rookie of the Year in 2001, the 6th Man of the Year trophy in 2006 and back to back championships with the Miami Heat in 2012 and 2013. But most of all, he was a great guy and a perfect teammate, who always gave his all in order for his team to improve.

Since today is Miller’s birthday, let’s throw it back to one of his funniest stories. At the beginning of his career, Miller owned a very interesting pet – a petite little Java Macaque monkey.

In an interview with The Washington Post from 2009, Miller told the story how this little pet monkey named Sonny once unlocked the door to his house and rode his dogs around the neighbourhood.

Oh yeah, that was a trip,” Miller said. “You would always put him in his room, and then we’d lock the door, and then we’d put the dogs out, and then we’d lock the front door. Well, he found out how to unlock doors, unlocked his door, went downstairs, let the dogs in the house and opened the front door. About an hour later we got a call from our neighbors, saying, ‘Your monkey is riding your dogs around the neighborhood.’…I said, ‘C’mon y’all, y’all got to get in the house.”
