Matt Barnes Claims Baron Davis Could’ve Been A Top-5 Point Guard Of All-Time If He Had Stayed Healthy

Baron Davis was a popular name back in the 2000s. He was a two-time All-Star that made a difference on both ends of the court. His offense was not known for efficiency, but he made it up for it with his playmaking, athleticism, and natural size.

Davis registered 13 seasons in the NBA, playing for teams such as the Charlotte Hornets, New Orleans Hornets, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Clippers, Cleveland Cavaliers and New York Knicks.

In his career, injuries were never too kind to the former Hornets star. A series of injuries including back, ankle and knee problems constantly took a toll on Davis, and some of it caused him to miss significant amount of games. Ultimately, in 2012, a gruesome right knee injury brought his career to a close.

Davis was a dog, but could never stay healthy for a long stretch. Now, former Warriors forward Matt Barnes took his attention on Davis and speculated how great his former teammate would have been if he remained healthy during his career.

“If Baron had stayed healthy, Baron could’ve been a top-five point guard in the history of the game. He didn’t have a weakness in his game. Picking up full court on defense to locking up a three or four-man, to posting up, to passing, to breaking you down, to shooting… He didn’t have a hole in his game.”
