Kristaps Porzingis – Cleveland’s Primary Target In Possible Kyrie Irving Trade

Ever since Kyrie Irving asked for a trade, the rumor mill hasn’t stopped producing.

Irving named four teams as his favorite possible destinations; Minnesota, New York, Miami, San Antonio. But in the end, it is the Cavaliers’ decision whether and where to trade Kyire.

When it comes to Cleveland’s front office, Kyrie could be heading to the big apple soon. According to ESPN, the Cavaliers are targeting Kristaps Porzingis.

“Porzingis has emerged as a primary Cleveland target, but that’s a conversation that can occur only with Cleveland’s willingness to unburden the Knicks of the three years and $55 million left on Joakim Noah’s contract. For now, the conversation is a nonstarter for the Knicks, league sources said.”

But, it is not that easy. Accroding to Adrian Wojnarowski, there continues to be distance between Porzingis and the Knicks. A frustrated Porzingis passed on his exit interviews after the season has ended, which led to Phil Jackson (more or less) actively shopping the Latvian big man.

For now, the Knicks are keen on keeping Porzingis. But, if Porzingis’ relationship with the Knicks really is distant, and the Cavaliers accept to take on Noah’s contact and add another player, a trade doesn’t seem too far out of range.
